eyeExpert™ Digital Retinal Imaging Systems

Your practice is unique. You may have one site or multiple sites. Several physicians or solo. With opportunities and challenges everyday to serve your patients well, and in a timely manner. If you are in an ophthalmology practice, then photography is vitally important. The process must be quick and the images high quality. To achieve these goals, you should consider converting to digital if you haven’t already.

Go digital. For many good reasons.

There are so many advantages to digital imaging that it makes sense to make the change as soon as possible. The photographers will be happier, the doctors will be happier, and most importantly, the patients will receive better, more immediate care.

Go eyeExpert Digital. For many more good reasons.

eyeExpert™ Digital Retinal Imaging Systems are designed to quickly and easily convert existing film-based fundus cameras to advanced digital photography. Unlike other digital systems, eyeExpert Systems have been developed by an ophthalmologist for ophthalmologists. From the selection of components to the design of the software, every detail has been thoroughly considered and tested with the practitioner in mind. Dr. Peter Van Houten uses the systems he has designed in his own retinal practice every day. He believes that image quality is the most important feature of a system. "If you can't see it, you can't treat it," is his guiding philosophy.

Whatever the photographic needs of your practice may be, eyeExpert can provide an imaging solution to accommodate them. In desktop and portable configurations, as a single unit or in a multiple unit network, eyeExpert Systems use the most advanced technology available to give you important advantages

System Configurations

eyeExpert Systems are available in desktop and portable configurations to meet your particular needs. The Desktop version has the advantages of a larger display and greater speed; the Portable version has the advantages of being compact and portable (of course, a larger display could be attached to the portable unit if you wished). The functionality and capabilities of the Portable Workstation are the same as the Desktop version. The basic building block is a Workstation in your photography room. To that you can link Viewstations in your laser room and examining rooms, as you desire, to form an integrated network.

"Macintosh computers are the best-designed computers on the market and handle every
common computing task as well as, or better than, a Windows PC."
— The Wall Street Journal, Personal Technology, Page B1, June 20, 2002 —

eyeExpert Desktop Workstation
With its 22-inch Apple Cinema flat panel display, G4 Macintosh Computer, Kodak Professional Digital Camera, and eyeDA™ software package, the eyeExpert Desktop Workstation is an unbelievably powerful imaging machine that produces retinal images like you’ve never seen them before. In addition to image quality, you and your photographer will appreciate the ease of use and comprehensive capabilities of the software. From image capture to processing, analysis, viewing and storage, the eyeDA program offers you a straightforward intuitive approach and nimble functionality. Add a Desktop Viewstation for the laser or examining room, and you will be ready for streamlined patient flow through photography and on to treatment. The specifications for the computers used are updated regularly as new models appear. eyeExpert Portable Workstation eyeExpert Portable Workstation
If you have a satellite office, consider our portable solution. You can set up the camera and computer in your satellite office in about 5 minutes, and be photographing right away. The PowerBook computer is thin, lightweight and powerful. The specifications for the computers used are updated regularly as new models appear.

eyeExpert Viewstations
In desktop or portable configurations, the Viewstations give you an inexpensive way to access the images and data for each patient. Set up a Viewstation in the laser room or examining room to review the retinal status with the patient prior to treatment. They appreciate the knowledge and participate in a more informed way in their treatment. The Viewstations allow you to use a number of software tools to analyze the images, review files and add diagnoses and comments. In three configurations, the Viewstations give you choices of display size, portability and price.

eyeExpert Printers
The Kodak Professional Thermal Printers provide true photographic quality and durable, archival, laminated images. The technology used is a thermal dye diffusion (dye sublimation) process which is state-of-the-art. We strongly recommend this printer for your retina image printing. Nothing else comes close.

eyeExpert Networks
All eyeExpert Systems can be easily networked through Ethernet cable or wireless connections. For networks of three or fewer "nodes" (Workstations and Viewstations), no server is required. For networks of more than three nodes, we recommend the Macintosh Server. It's a server-based system with plenty of storage and speed to handle a busy office full of computers.
